Last night the Menace gelded the Mustang lengeds in a 3-2 victory with the Menace's Joe K making an awesome bicycle-kick save off the line when the Mustangs managed to get Fernstrum tied up.
Menace scored first on a classic Boltnar PK earned by brilliant play from Armin. The Keeper had an attitude and was all hopping around and Boltnar just played ice man and froze him and owned him.
This was the only goal of the first half. The second half got off to a hectic start with the Mustangs and Menace exchanging slugs in the form of three goals in a 5 minute period in a Mustangs, Menace, Mustangs pattern. It was tied until late in the game when Disang put it in the back of the net for the win.
The Menace play the Minnesota Thunder of USL1 next wednesday in the 2nd Round of the Open Cup.
Fan Participation Report
Fan Participation at this game continues to show that more and more people are getting fired up. Those of us Red Army members present did some chanting but other people in the crowd were doing some of our chants without us, or their own personal variations thereof (such as some middle/high school girls calling for Hamburger to get on the field :D). A couple of decent jeers for the refs included "do you have to have the mustangs permission to call a foul?" and "How much are the mustangs paying you?" not to mention my own yelling at him to call both ways and stating that his calls were rubbish.
Who's your daddy Referee?
Yet again we got stuck with a crappy ref, infact this same guy has refereed for us on several occasions. He let the Geldings get away with just about anything they wanted short of the most obvious fouls. Hopefully we'll be getting better refs in the USOC now that we're playing pro teams.
